BACOLODNONS are enjoined to support and actively participate in the celebration of the seventh Bacolaodiat Festival on January 20-23, according to a resolution authored by Councilor Em Ang and passed by the City Council Wednesday.
Bacolod City will celebrate the 7th Bacolaodiat Festival on January 20-23 to usher in the Chinese New Year.
The Bacolaodiat Festival, which has started in 2006 and is celebrated annually during the Chinese New Year, was originally conceptualized to show support and appreciation to the Filipino-Chinese community for their contributions in the local economy and for sharing their customs and traditions to the residents of the city.
The festival has since then become a major tourism event in the city.
The Lunar New Year or Chinese New Year is considered the most important traditional Chinese holiday among our Filipino-Chinese brothers and usually celebrated with big family gatherings, gift giving, the preparation of symbolic foods and display of festive decorations.
To create a festive atmosphere and to make the celebration more meaningful, all Bacolodnons are enjoined to actively participate and support the activities that have been lined-up during the four-day festival. (CNC)
