Lazatin flyover done by June 30

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said Monday that the Lazatin flyover in the intersection of Jose Abad Santos Avenue (Jasa) here is expected to be finished by June 30 this year.

The project, amounting to P330 million, is part of the Presidential Bridge Program and is expected to benefit motorists and commuters here and relieve the otherwise busy area from road traffic.
DPWH District Engineer Jose Datu said the original target date of completion for the project is supposed to be October of this year.

“But the construction is being targeted to be finished by June 30 so that the traffic and commercial activity in the area could return to normal,” Datu said.

While construction is still ongoing, Datu said the DPWH is advising motorists to take alternate routes to avoid heavy traffic.

Earlier, motorists and commuters in this city expressed their disappointment on the daily heavy build-up of traffic in one of the province’s most important gateways.

The heavy traffic, starting early morning, is a result of three ongoing works — the Lazatin flyover in the intersection of Jasa; the pedestrian footbridge at Barangay Dolores; and road improvements between SM City Pampanga and Robinsons Starmills in Barangay San Jose. These are all being done by the Public Works agency.
