Angeles gets funds for ambulant vendors

THE City Government of Angeles received nego-karts livelihood funding assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) that will be distributed to ambulant vendors in the city.
The nego-kart (Negosyo sa Kariton) project is one of Dole’s priority projects intended to provide decent livelihood for the ambulant workers in major cities of the country.
Through its Public Employment Services Office (Peso), the City Government formally received the funding from the agency during Monday’s Labor Day Job Fair at the SM City Clark Events Center.
Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan received the check amounting to P350,000 from Geraldine Panlilio, Dole assistant regional director.
Pamintuan expressed his appreciation to Dole for choosing his constituents as beneficiaries of the said livelihood project.
The mayor said the city fully supports this cause because providing skills and livelihood programs for the citizenry is part of his contract with the Angeleños.
“Kami ay umaasa ng patuloy na ugnayan sa Dole at iba pang ahensya ng ating pamahalaan kaugnay sa pagpapatupad ng mga nararapat na programa sa pagpaparami ng trabaho sa lungsod, at sa pagpapalago ng kabuhayan ng mga Angelenos,” Pamintuan said.
Peso Manager Adelina Deocales said the funds will be released to 24 beneficiaries in this city.
“Aside from the nego kart, the recipients will also get additional capital of P3,000,” Deocales said.
She added the livelihood assistance will be a big help to the beneficiaries who need support for their retail businesses.
The nego-kart assistance aims to make the vendors self-reliant entrepreneurs.
