(UPDATE 3) Young male ‘lovers’ critical in SM Pampanga shooting

MANILA, Philippines – Two minors, both male, were critically injured in a shooting incident inside SM City in San Fernando town, Pampanga province, before noon today.
Superintendent Wilson Santos, Mexico municipal police chief, said that the victims are aged 13 and 17. One victim is a resident of Bulacan and the other one was a native of Pampanga.
Santos said that the two victims, who are reportedly lovers, both sustained gunshot wounds in the head. They are under observation in separate hospitals, contrary to earlier radio and television news reports that the victims have already died.
The town police chief said that the two victims were found wounded on the SM City mall’s ground floor, in front of the Astrovision store, after two gunshots were heard by security guards and mall goers. The gunshots were heard between 11:40 a.m. and 11:50 a.m., he said.
He said that the shooting incident happened inside Building 3 of the mall.
Santos also denied an earlier report that a third person, supposedly the shooter, was involved in the incident.
He said that a .22 caliber revolver was recovered near one of the victims, who is supposedly gay.
“Apparently [one of them] is gay,” he said in a radio interview. “Apparently lovers’ quarrel.”
Santos said that crime scene investigators recovered a “suicide note” from one of the victims, where he stated that “he is willing to die together” with the other victim.
