Ecology at climate change training center itatayo sa dating basurahan

LUNGSOD NG MALOLOS – Magtatayo ng isang ecology at climate change training center ang pamahalaang panlalawigan sa dating basurahan sa likod ng Bulacan Medical Center.

Ito ay halos dalawang taon matapos ipasara ang nasabing basurahan batay na rin sa reklamo ng mga mag-aaral ng katabing Bulacan State University (BulSU) na iniulat ng Mabuhay noong Agosto 2010.

Ang nasabing plano ay nagkahugis noong Lunes, Hunyo 4 ng pangunahan ni Gob. Wilhelmino Alvarado ang ground breaking ceremony para sa nasabig proyekto kaugnay ng paglulunsad ng pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Kapaligiran sa pangunguna ng Bulacan Environment and Natural Resources Office (BENRO).

Ayon kay Abogado Rustico De Belen, hepe ng Benro, ang nasabing pasilidad ay bahagi ng patuloy na kampanya ng kapitolyo para sa pangangalaga sa kalikasan ng lalawigan.

Ipinagmalaki niya na ang pasilidad ay magsisilbing sentro ng kampanya para sa pagsisinop ng basura at paghahanda sa epekto ng climate change.

Ito ay dahil sa mag-iipon sila ng mga mga impormasyon bukod pa sa magiging sentro ito ng pagsasanay.

Buko dito, sinabi ni De Belen na ang likod na bahagi ng itatayong pasilidad ay lalagyan ng mga nursery para sa mga binhi ng punong kahoy.

“We are converting the old dumpsite from eye sore to symbol of hope,” ani De Belen patungkol sa lokasyon ng itatayong pasilidad.

Matatandaan na noong Agosto 2010 o halos isang buwan matapos magsimula ng panunungkulan si Alvarado bilang gobernador ay ipinasara ng kapitolyo ang basurahan o open dumpsite sa likod ng BMC.

Ang nasabing basurahan ay mahigit dalawang taong inireklamo at pinagtiisan ng mga mag-aaral ng Bulacan State University (BulSU) dahil sa mabahong amoy at usok na nagmumula doon.

Ang nasabing reklamo ay nakarating sa Punto kaya’t noong Hulyo 26, 2010 kung kailan ay nagsasagawa ng kanyang unang state of the nation address si Pangulong Benigno Aquino III, ang Punto ay abala sa pagdodokumento sa operasyon ng dumpsite sa pamamagitan ng panayam sa mga mag-aaral, guro at sa pagkuha ng mga larawan ang video footage.

Nang kapanayamin ng Punto ang noo’y mga katatalagang opisyal ng kapitolyo, kabilang na si De Belen hinggil sa operayon ng nasabing basurahan, ikinagulat nila ito, ngunit agad na inaksyunan.

Bukod sa paglulunsad ng ecology center, namahagi rin ang kapitolyo ng eco-trikes noong Lunes na magagamit sa paghakot ng mga basura sa mga barangay, at mga silyang gawa sa mga nakumpiskang tabla.

Ang 200 silya ay ipinagkaloob sa pamahalaang bayan ng Norzagaray, at ang nalabing 100 ay ibinigay sa isang paaralan sa bayan ng San Ildefonso.

Kaugnay ng pagdiriwang ng buwan ng kalikasan, sinabi ni De Belen na pangungunahan din nila ang paglalagay ng tandang pangkasaysayan sa Realde Kakarong sa Pandi bilang pagsusulong ng programang eco-tourism sa lalawigan. Ito ay isasagawa sa Hunyo 15.

Sa Hunyo 21, pangungunahan ng Benro ang Environmental Summit sa Hiyas ng Bulacan Pavilion na naglalayong mabigyan ng higit nakaalaman ang mga Bulakenyo hinggil sa paglaban sa epekto ng climate change.

Sa Hunyo 26 naman ay isasagawa ang Basic Training on Environmental Law Enforcement upang palakasin ang pagpapatupad ng mga batas pangkalikasan, at sa Hunyo 29 ay isasagawa ang Collaborative Governance of Urbanizing Watersheds bilang bahagi ng paghahanda sa climate risk adaptation sa Angat River Basin.
