Farmer, roomboy held for selling shabu

A FARMER and a lodging house roomboy, who were selling shabu on the side, were apprehended by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) during separate buy-bust operations in General Santos City and Koronadal City last Tuesday.

PDEA Director General Jose Gutierrez, Jr. identified the suspects as Salindatu Donding, 28, a farmer residing in Libungan, Northern Kabuntalan, Maguindanao; and Arnold Villan, 28, residing in Purok Bayanihan, Barangay Sta. Cruz, Koronadal City. Villan is a drug personality included in the Regional Order of Battle.

A planned drug transaction between Donding and a PDEA undercover agent was hatched along Fast Lane, Bulaong Avenue, Barangay Dadiangas North, General Santos City. After Donding received the marked money in exchange for a plastic sachet of shabu, elements of PDEA Regional Office 12 (PDEA RO12), under Director Aileen Lovitos, immediately swooped down on the suspect. Further search on Donding yielded additional three plastic sachets of shabu.

In Koronadal City, another team from PDEA RO12 arrested Villan after he sold one plastic sachet of shabu to a poseur-buyer inside a lodging facility along Purok Bayanihan, Barangay Sta. Cruz. Also recovered from him were another three plastic sachets of shabu and assorted drug paraphernalia.

“Villan had already been the subject of careful casing and surveillance operation by PDEA RO12 because of his modus in transacting illegal drug business. He capitalized on the strategic privacy presented by the nature of the establishment (lodging house) where he worked as a roomboy,” Gutierrez said.

Donding shall face charges for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, while charges for violation of Section 5, Section 11 and Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia) are being prepared for filing in court against Villan.
