P20M fund for city employees’ bonuses approved

THE Angeles City Council approved Wednesday the Supplemental Budget No. 2 amounting to P20 million that would fund the second tranche payment of the Collective Negotiation Agreement (CNA) between the Association of Government Employees for a New and Dynamic Angeles City (Agenda) and the City Government.
The City Council approved the supplemental budget on Tuesday’s regular session at the City Hall in Pulung Maragul here.
Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting told Sun.Star Pampanga that the approval came in time of the enrollment season and would greatly help Angeles City employees who are sending their children to school.
“The supplemental budget was approved unanimously by the City Council. This is a humanitarian gesture and in recognition of the needs of the city hall employees,” Cabigting said, stressing that the Council hopes that the employees who will benefit from the approval will work harder to make government services here more efficient.
The City Council believes that City Hall employees deserve this kind of assistance. We believe that a satisfied City Government workforce will work more efficiently if their needs are met by the City Government.
The CNA incentive amounting to P12,000 will be distributed to benefit City Government employees as per the negotiations between the Association of Government Employees for a New and Dynamic Angeles City (Agenda) and the city’s local government.
At present, the City Hall has 915 regular employees, 36 contractual and 375 casual workers.
Earlier, Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan announced his support for the CNA.
“Our improved expenditure and deficit management will allow us to authorize the grant of additional incentive to City Government workers on top of what they regularly receive,” Pamintuan said.
Employees of the different offices were delighted to this announcement as the enrolment season for school year 2012-2013 has already started.
“We acknowledge the financial burden of our city employees. Now that the enrolment season is fast approaching, our employees are brought into a very tight budget dilemma. From this, I believe the distribution of the incentives is timely and essential,” Pamintuan explained.
Meanwhile, Agenda president Eduardo Sanchez thanked the City Council and Mayor Pamintuan for their support to City Hall employees.
