Governor bares P100-M budget for calamity

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO –- Governor Lilia Pineda bared that the Provincial Government still has an available calamity fund amounting to more than P100 million.
She said the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), together with concerned departments, has been preparing for the rainy season for more than a year.

“Nakahanda po tayo dahil hindi naman tayo tumigil sa paghahanda para masiguro natin ang kaligtasan ng ating mga kababayan,” Pineda added.
The governor also said they will establish action centers in strategic areas in the coastal towns as the need arises.
Pineda said most of these action centers will be put up in the 4th district of the province as this area is vulnerable to intense flooding during rainy season.
Pineda, meanwhile, asked for the full cooperation of the residents in terms of compliance to warnings issued by appropriate authorities.
It can be recalled that the Provincial Government purchased heavy equipments such as backhoes, dump trucks, and loaders among others.
These equipment will be used for clearing, dredging, declogging of affected waterways, and rescue operations when the need arises.
