Improved weather expected over Luzon by Wednesday

MANILA (3rd Update, 11:02 a.m.) — State weather forecasters are expecting Metro Manila and some provinces in Luzon to have cloudy to sunny skies beginning Wednesday following a rainy Tuesday caused by the inland movement of a low pressure area (LPA).
Nikos Peñaranda, forecaster at the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), said the weather disturbance is heading for an exit toward the West Philippine Sea by Thursday.
The LPA is located 50 kilometers west southwest of Manila as of 10 a.m Tuesday.
“Metro Manila will still experience some rainshowers on Wednesday morning but after that, we expect an improved weather condition. We also see the same for surrounding provinces,” he said in an interview.
Pagasa data showed the LPA dumped 11.2 millimeters per hour of rain (heavy) from Monday night until early Tuesday, which prompted local government officials in some areas in Luzon to call off classes.
Classes are cancelled in all elementary and high school public schools in Manila.
All public and private schools in pre-school, elementary and high school in Pasay and Cainta are suspended. In Paranaque, classes in elementary and high schools were suspended, citing the threat of floods and high tide at 9 a.m.
In Navotas, classes after 11 a.m. are cancelled in public and private schools in elementary and high school.
Afternoon classes in public schools in Mandaluyong and all branches of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines are also suspended.
Other schools that have announced suspension are: Eton International School in Quezon City (QC), Flora Ilagan High school in QC, Karuhatan Elementary School and Karuhatan National High School in Valenzuela and Sto. Nino Catholic School in Taguig.
Senate President Juan Ponce-Enrile also announced suspension of work at the Senate due to flooded roads and heavy traffic, and employees who arrived early were advised to go home.
Meanwhile, Pagasa said Visayas will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms, while Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms.
