3 Bulakenyo kabilang sa delegasyon ng Pilipinas sa London Olympics

MALOLOS—Sa kabila ng pagkatalo, pinagbunyi ng lalawigan ang mga Bulakenyong manlalaro na kalahok sa 2012 London Olympics na nagsimula noong Hulyo 27 at matatapos sa Agosto 12.

Ang mga manlalarong may lahing Bulakenyo na napabilang sa 11 miyembro ng delegasyon ng bansa sa Olympics ay sina Jessie Khing Lacuna, Tomohiko Aldaba Hoshina, at Daniel Caluag.

Si Lacuna na nagmula sa bayan ng Pulilan ay ang pinakamabilis na Pilipinong manlalangoy. Siya ay natalo sa unang heat sa 200-meter freestyle noong Hulyo 29.

Sina Hoshina at Caluag naman ay kapwa may lahing Bulakenyo na nagmula sa lungsod ng Malolos.

Si Hoshina ay lumahok sa heavyweight category ng judo ngunit natalo sa unang round noong Biyernes, Agosto 3, samantalang si Caluag ay kalahok sa BMX cycling.

Ayon kay Malolos Mayor Christian Natividad , ipinagmamalaki ng kanilang mga kababayan at mga Bulakenyo ang tatlong manlalaro kahit na sina Hoshina at Caluag ay hindi nakabase sa lungsod na ito.

Ayon kay Natividad, si Hoshina ay anak ni Vilma Aldaba na nakapag-asawa ng Hapon. Si Aldaba ay pinsang buo ni Butch Aldaba ng Brgy. San Juan, Malolos na siyang dating kalihim ng Sangguniang Panglungsod.

Si Caluag ay nakabase sa Estados Unidos Ang kanyang pamilya ay nagmula sa Brgy. Sta. Isabel at ang ama niya ay kamag-anak ni dating konsehal Butch Caluag.

Ayon kay Natividad, ikinagagalak nila na ang watawat pa rin ng Pilipinas ang dinala ng mga ito sa London Olympicssa kabila na nakabase na sa ibayong dagat ang dalawang manlalaro.

Kaugnay nito, natalo rin sa mga unang araw ng Olympics ang iba pang Pilipinong manlalaro tulad ni Heidilyn Diaz sa weightlifting, Rachel Anne Cabrera at Mark Javier sa archery, Jasmine Alkhadi sa swimming, at ang skeet shooter na si Brian Rosario.
