Guv appeals: No mudslinging

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Governor Lilia Pineda asked contending candidates, parties and groups on Friday to refrain from mudslinging, black propaganda and dirty politicking as the 2013 political season begins.
The governor, together with Kambilan bets, filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) around 10 a.m. Friday before the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office here.
With her were vice-gubernatorial bet Dennis Pineda, congressmen wannabe Vice Governor Joseller Guiao, Candaba Mayor Jerry Pelayo, board members and mayors from Pampanga.
“I just hope that all candidates in the 2013 elections would refrain from mudslinging and black propaganda. Sana walang siraan at malinis ang pamamaraan ng pagpapa-abot nila sa mga Kapampangan ng kanilang hangaring makapagsilbi,” she said.
“Alam ko na political season na pero at the end of all these, sana ay sama-sama pa rin tayong lahat sa pagtatrabaho tungo sa kapakanan ng Pampanga,” she added.
On her bid for reelection versus former governor Ed Panlilio, Pineda said “sana po ay pakinggan ninyo siya. Baka po may mas magandang programa siya. Mabuti na rin na may pagpipilian ang taong bayan at ang mga Kapampangan na ang bahalang mag-desisyon.”
Tight race
It will be a tight race for seats at the Provincial Board as stalwarts Rosve Henson, Dinan Labung, Mexico Mayor Teddy Tumang and independent Roy Vinzons all filed their COCs with the Comelec.
In the third district race are also incumbent Board Members Monina Laus and Trina Dizon.
At the second district, incumbent Board Member Salvador Dimson is in the race with Liberal Party bet Leila Buan and co-aspirants Ludi Muli, Art Salalila and Tonton Torres, among others.
First district Board Member Crisostomo Garbo will slug it out with incumbent Mabalacat councilors Jerry Basilio and Oscar Aurelio over the second seat to be vacated by last termer Tarcicio DC Halili, who will gun for a council seat in Mabalacat City.
A three cornered fight, meanwhile, looms in the fourth district as former Board Member Nelson Calara battles it out with incumbents Nestor “Bay” Tolentino and Ricardo Yabut.
