City Hall employees receive P25,000 bonus

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Mayor Oscar Rodriguez announced Monday during the flag ceremonies the P25,000 performance enhancement incentive (PEI) each for the 870 employees of the City Government.
Rodriguez’s announcement was met with thunderous applause and cheers from the 483 permanent and 387 casual employees who said that they were surprised with the Christmas bonus.
The employees said “we were surprised by the announcement as much as we were excited about Mayor Oca pulling magic from his Christmas bag.”
Rodriguez, who played Santa Claus, also said that the 708 labor payroll (LPs) employees would similarly receive their PEI worth P10,000 each.
“We are saying we have savings of over P700 million, most of which have already been allotted for our major projects and programs. But because of your commitment and dedication in serving the city and Fernandinos, you rightfully deserve all the benefits due you in the spirit of sharing this Christmas Season,” he said.
Other employees who have not met the November 30, 2012 cut for the PEI, he said, will receive the cash gift in a pro-rated basis.
“We understand your predicament. That is why we want every employee of City Hall to be happy this Christmas being my last here before I move to Congress. I am particularly keen on our LPs who have been at the frontline in delivering services even in times of calamities. This is for all of you to share as we have a lot to thank for at year-end 2012,” Rodriguez added.
The PEI would be given in cash by the City Treasurer and not through automated teller machines (ATMs), he said.
“You do not have to worry at all because the allocation and release of your incentives are all under the law. This is the product of your labor and service for the city and its citizens. We just want you to have a merry Christmas and a happy New Year,” Rodriguez said.
