Quarry revenues reach record high

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Quarry revenues have peaked to more than a total P630 million last month to break the records of past administrations in collections from the province’s premier industry and income generator.
Under Governor Lilia Pineda administration and Vice Governor Joseller Guiao, the quarry collections in November were posted at P24,150,000 bringing the year-to-date revenues to a high P630,637,500, some P14-million more than that of the previous administration.
And with seven months to go before the end of Pineda’s term in June 2013, officials are optimistic that the P770-million projected income set by Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Officer Art Punsalan will be realized.
Based on records, Punsalan noted that the three-year collection of the past administration which posted at P616,158,000 has been breached: “With seven months to go before the end of Governor Pineda’s and Vice Governor Yeng’s terms, plus with the current average of P20 million to about P24 million a month, we are very optimistic to hit a projected P770 million in collections by June next year,” he said.
“From 1999 to 2001 under the NRDC, collections were at P382,580,900. Under former Governor Lito Lapid in 2002 to 2003, it was posted at P34,573,000.
Then in 2004 to end of June in 2007 under former Governor Mark Lapid, revenues were posted at P82,680,000, which was surpassed by the Biyaya A Luluguran At Sisikapan of Governor Panlilio with their P616 million record. But at the rate the Kapampangan A Lulugud At Matapat of the Pineda-Guiao administration is running, it is history in the making with the current collection of P630-million,” Punsalan said.
Confidence
Meanwhile, Pineda expressed confidence on quarry officials’ efforts regarding the projected P770-million end result in revenues by 2013.
“I am confident that projected P770-million quarry revenues in 2013 will be realized. We are also exploring more avenues to maximize our quarry industry and its resources like supplying more of our white sand for national projects. Masayang masaya tayo na noong November pa lang ay P630-million na ang collection. Ito ay malaking bagay para sa mga Kapampangan,” she told Sun.Star Pampanga.
Computerization
Guiao disclosed that the Provincial Board which he leads will now strongly push for the computerization of quarry operations.
“We have studied all the options on computerizing quarry operations in Pampanga. I strongly believe that revenues will double with increased efficiency from computerization. We are continuing to look for improvements like more permanent weigh bridges and stricter implementation of anti-overloading laws. With revenues pointing upward, we must institutionalize quarry operations soonest so that kahit sino pa ang umupo sa Capitol ay hindi na matitinag pa ang record-breaking collections na ito. This is not only meant to make it a legacy, but for the welfare of Kapampangans who benefit from our quarry industry,” Guiao said.
