San Fernando’s most wanted man falls

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga–A man wanted for three counts of murder and listed as the number one most wanted person in the City of San Fernando, was arrested by police authorities in Sinait, Ilocos Sur on Tuesday.
Central Luzon Police Regional Director, Chief Supt. Edgardo Ladao identified the arrested person as Benedicto Pasiguen of Panga-ot, Lagayan, Abra.
Ladao said Pasiguen was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Divina Luz Apostol- Simbulan of the Regional Trial Court Branch 41 of the City of San Fernando.
The accused was involved in the killing of Melanio Salonga, Mark John Manelese and Jefferson Salonga in Barangay Sto. Nino, City of San Fernando, Pampanga on August 22, 2009, police said.
Paseguen was also wanted in the attempt to kill Evelyn Galang-Salonga in the same incident.
The court has no bail recommended for the temporary liberty of the accused.
Police said Pasiguen was collared in his hideout at Barangay Magsaysay Sinait, Ilocos Sur at about 5:30 p.m. by a joint operation of the City of San Fernando Police, Pampanga Police in coordination with the Abra Police Office and the Ilocos Sur Police.
Aside from being the top most wanted man in the City of San Fernando, Pasiguen was also listed as the No. 3 most wanted person in Pampanga and No. 8 in Central Luzon.
The accused is presently detained at the City of San Fernando Police Station for proper disposition. ●Froilan E. Magtoto
