CDC launches jobs fair for PWDs, IPs
CLARK FREEPORT – The Clark Development Corporation (CDC), in cooperation with the Clark Investors and Locators Association (CILA), is launching a job fair for Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) and Indigenous Peoples (IPs) on July 29 at the Event Center of SM Clark.
The jobs fair was the result of an earlier appeal from CDC President Arthur P. Tugade, who asked locators and investors of the Clark Freeport “to go the extra mile” when hiring PWDs and IPs.
Tugade said at least 15 to 20 Clark locators will participate in the jobs fair. He added that transport vehicles will be made available to PWDs and IPs who will be attending the event.
Last June 19, Tugade met with human resources managers of top employers inside the Freeport to consider the hiring of PWDs and IPs as something “that comes from the heart” and not as a requirement or imposition.
When he first assumed the position as CDC head, Tugade was firm in reminding all CDC employees from accepting gifts or favors from clients – until now.
“But this time I have to muster enough guts to ask and accept that favor or gift from you – a guarantee that you will provide employment for the physically-challenged and/or indigenous people,” Tugade said during the meeting. ● Marna Dagumboy-del Rosario
