EdPam named ‘Ulirang Ama’

ANGELES CITY–For his “achievements and outstanding performance”, Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan of this city received the “Ulirang Ama” award on Monday.
The award was conferred by Wilfredo Talag, president of the National Mother’s Day and Father’s Day Foundation Incorporated, during Monday’s flag raising rites at the Angeles City hall.

According to Talag, the award was given to Pamintuan for his “achievements and outstanding performance in government service, and at the same time, as a father to his family.”

The Ulirang Ama Award is a project of the foundation to help teach Filipinos to respect and honor their parents and strengthen family ties.
“It also offers Filipinos especially the youth, with role models who exemplify integrity, high moral principles, and ideal care and nurturing of children,” Talag said.

Talag acknowledged the roles of parents in nation building by stating that “the men who brought the values of fatherhood did not only build a house but constructed a real home, and the awardees deserve to be given the honor.”

Pamintuan thanked the foundation for conferring him the Ulirang Ama Award.
As a father, he said, he has advised his children to “keep learning and improving” and to try to excel in their chosen business or line of work.”
Pamintuan said he believes that “no amount of success in life can make up for failure in the home.”

At the same time, the mayor vowed to continue the projects and programs that would improve the living conditions of his constituents.
Pamintuan said his administration will be more innovative and creative in governance.

He stated in his inaugural speech that he will sustain the implementation of his Contract with Angeleños (CWA) with new and bigger components.
Last year, Pamintuan has been recognized as an outstanding city mayor by Superbrands Marketing International.

He also joined the ranks of the best mayors around the globe as he was named one of the top 10 awardees for the 2012 World Mayor Prize.
In receiving the award, Pamintuan joined the ranks of well-known Filipino figures recognized as recipients of this year’s Ulirang Ama Award.

Also honored as Ulirang Ama 2013 for the government and public sector were Senator Manuel Villar, Commission on Elections Chairman Sixto Brillantes, Jr. and National Bureau of Investigation Director Nonnatus Caesar Rojas.

Other Ulirang Ama awardees were Defense Secretary Voltaire Tuvera Gazmin (military and law enforcement); Supreme Court Associate Justice Bienvenido L. Reyes, Judge Demetrio B. Macapagal, and lawyers Alberto H. Habitan and Efren G. Gono (law and judiciary); Dr. Reynaldo Manansala Javate (medicine); Mario P. Sandoval (applied sciences); Bonifacio N. del Rosario and Valerio Matira Po (socio-civic and religious); Patrick Charles Dugan and Ronaldo Agustin Sumaoang (agriculture); Prof. Enrico Aurelio L. Torres, PhD (education): Fernando B. Sena (arts and culture); and Rodolfo Jayme Santillan (media and journalism).

The awardees were chosen based on their good moral character, contributions to their respective communities and sectors, achievements in their chosen field of endeavor and for having a wholesome family life.
