TESDA launches ‘Specialista’ mall desk

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO–Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Secretary Joel Villanueva last Friday officially launched the agency’s pilot Specialista Desk Program (SDP), the first in the entire country, located at the Lingkod Pinoy Center Robinsons Starmills here.

In a statement, TESDA 3 director Teodoro Gatchalian said that SDP involves the actual establishment of a mini-office which brings its quality and responsive technical education and skills development programs and services closer and more accessible to the people of Pampanga.

Last May 20, TESDA and Robinsons Land Corporation signed a memorandum of agreement for the establishment of SDPs located inside malls.

Gatchalian furthered that a staff from TESDA will hold office during weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to assist the public on the agency’s various programs and services.

Part of the information is on how to avail the services of the Specialistas: their contact number/s, type of services, and range of fees being charged.

Based on records, Pampanga has a total of 100 Specialistas in four (basic aggrupations: 50 in Beauty and Wellness services, 30 in vehicle/automotive repair and services, 10 in welding, and 10 in building and house repair services.

With this, similar desk will be established at Robinsons Luisita in Tarlac and in other key areas in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
