P50 to view dancing prisoners proposed

A P50 entrance fee will be collected from visitors who want to watch the dancing inmates in the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC).

Consultant on jail matters Marco Toral said the entrance fee will cover the fuel of the vehicles used to pick up the visitors from the Provincial Capitol to CPDRC.
The P50 entrance fee will be implemented on Aug. 31.

The dancing inmates’ performance is scheduled every last Saturday of the month.

Toral said whenever there is a performance from the inmates, the visitors give an amount as donation.

Toral told Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III about his idea of having an entrance fee to pay for the fuel expenses.

He said the governor was positive about it.

Toral said they have coordinated with the offices of the provincial treasurer, administrator and governor for the implementation of the entrance fee collection.

Tickets, which will be given to a visitor upon entering the CPDRC, will also be printed.

He said they will give a lower entrance fee for children.

The CPDRC has tightened its security against illegal drugs and prostitution whenever there are visitors.

Toral said they will implement an “iron-first policy” on Sept. 1 where their target is to cut the illegal drugs inside the CPDRC by 90 percent.

The jail guards will also frisk female visitors.

They have been following the ID system for every visitor who pays a visit to an inmate.

The CPDRC has also been strictly monitoring for possible prostitution inside the jail facility.

For the inmates’ partner, they need to submit a barangay certificate as proof that they have been living together while the spouses will have to submit a marriage certificate to acquire a visitor’s ID.

However, the jail consultant is confident that there is no more prostitution inside the jail facility.
