Labor department boosts program for graduates

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) Regional office has started pumping up graduating students this semester with much need information and know-how to get jobs.
Dole regional director Raymundo Agravante said in his report to Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz that the Peso Provincial Capitol in Zambales and Peso Olongapo collaborated to conclude labor education for graduating students (Legs) by capacitating them with timely information on existing job opportunities, while encouraging them to venture into a highly competitive field of work.
Regional labor communications officer Jerry Borja told Sun.Star Pampanga that as of March 2012, DoLE Regional office has already concluded 35 labor education seminars for 5,639 graduating students from 28 universities all over the region.
He cited Agravante as saying, as of February 2012, 13 Legs were already held in nine schools involving 706 graduating students from the province.
Participating schools from all over the province include Capstone Institute of Business and Arts, AMA Computer Learning College, Subic Bay College Inc., MACSAT-Sta. Cruz, MACSAT-Iba, Lorraine Technical School, Renaissance, World Peace through Education (WPTE), and Comptec Computer Business College.
“Our goal is to empower our soon-to-be members of the labor force and to make them aware of their rights as future workers and likewise capacitate them to become productive citizens towards the continuous growth of this region” Borja quoted Agravante.
