Cops recover hijacked truck

MABALACAT– The town police has recovered a truck reportedly hijacked by several armed men in Barangay Dolores here Wednesday dawn.
Mabalacat Police Director Rolly Mendoza said the truck containing P1.3 million worth of food products were recovered in Barangay Santa Ines an hour after it was taken by the suspects.
Mendoza commended his men for the swift action, which prevented the suspects from carting away the vehicle and the goods.
The truck driver, identified as one Donaldo De Guzman, told police investigators they were traveling from the south to north in the said village when two armed men clad in police cap and black jacket on board a vehicle allegedly asked them to pull over.
The suspects reportedly asked De Guzman to present the receipt of the products they are transporting and forced him to get down the truck before he was dragged into a maroon Honda CRV sports utility vehicle.
De Guzman resisted, he managed to escape and seek police assistance, said Senior Police Officer 1 Ramon Cruz.
Cruz said the timely response of the patrolling cops forced the suspect to leave the truck and flee.
