Jocson College, Lufthansa ink pact for student training

ANGELES CITY — The Jocson College Incorporated (JCI) has forged an agreement with the Lufthansa Technical Training Philippines Incorporated (LTTP) for the training of aircraft maintenance technology (AMT) and Avionics Technology (AVT) students.
Under the agreement, the LTTP will provide theoretical and practical instructions and training to JCI students in accordance with the requirements of the European Aviation Safety Agency starting June this year.
The memorandum of agreement was signed by Jochen Harms, LTTP general manager, and Maria Felisa Jocson, JCI vice president in Clark Freeport, over the weekend.
Harms said his company chose JCI as its training partner after it saw the school’s interest to provide its students with high-quality training.
“Lufthansa Technical Training and the Jocson College have the same vision and philosophy. That is why we did not have a hard time in reaching this agreement. We are both willing to provide young people with world-class training for their future tasks,” Harms said.
Harms said the negotiation for the training agreement was discussed with Jocson only in February.
Jocson said the school was set to acquire a three-engine Boeing 727 airplane from TransGlobal Airways, a cargo airline based at the Clark International Airport.
Angeles City Councilor Brian Nepomuceno, JCI legal officer, said minor details, like parking arrangement and documentation, are being ironed out with TransGlobal for the purchase of the aircraft.
Jocson and Nepomuceno said the aircraft will be utilized in the training of AMT and AVT students.
Jose Casi, director of JCI aviation training department, said the training would be incorporated in the curriculum of incoming first year students.
Graduating students, on the other hand, will be taught the first half of the training program and the remaining half will be given to them in modules, according to Casi.
Harms said LTTP had designed the training program to be easily understood by students.
“With our methodology of blended training, we hope to educate the young people to become responsible, independent, dedicated and proactive thinking professionals in their respective fields,” he said.
Harms said Lufthansa officials based in Germany will arrive in June to oversee the implementation of the training program.
