Mayor supports establishment of Disneyland in Clark Freeport

ANGELES CITY — Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan expressed support to Pampanga Representative Carmelo Lazatin’s (1st district) proposal of a Disneyland theme park inside the Clark Freeport.
Pamintuan described the move as a “flourishing tourism feature with massive potentials.”
He said in an interview that the establishment of the world-renowned theme park would be beneficial to local government units in the Metro-Clark area.
“A world-class theme park like this in Central Luzon can generate hundreds or even thousands of jobs, and could be beneficial to several businesses surrounding the Clark area,” the mayor said.
He also said that a Disneyland in Clark could attract investors from across the globe and could be highly favorable to tourism in the region.
“We’ve been working hard to make Central Luzon as a tourism launch pad in the country, and this proposal by Congressman Lazatin kept our hopes up,” said Pamintuan.
The mayor admitted that Central Luzon lacks an eye-catching major tourism site and the addition of this famous theme park brand could improve the region’s odds in attracting more tourists, businesses and investors.
Pamintuan is currently the Regional Development Council (RDC) committee chairman on tourism in Central Luzon and supports projects that would tap the great tourism potential of the region.
The mayor said the City Government is finding ways to resolve the traffic woes in this city to make it a proper gateway for the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport.
Clark Freeport is one of the most attractive business propositions the Philippines has to offer for investors in many kinds of businesses from BPO, hospitality, resorts and leisure facilities to condos, retirement homes, restaurants, bars and shops.
Earlier, a local advocacy group expressed that the Disneyland Clark project as “a splendid idea.”
The Pinoy Gumising Ka Movement (PGKM) also favors the establishment of a Clark Disneyland theme park.
“Congressman Lazatin should be congratulated for this initiative to level up the potentials of Clark,” said PGKM chairman Ruperto Cruz.
