Kambilan all for ‘Delta’ as VG in 2013

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO —The Kambilan ning Memalen Kapampangan or Kambilan has unanimously endorsed former Pampanga Mayors League president and ex-Lubao mayor Dennis “Delta” Pineda as vice-gubernatorial candidate in next year’s polls.
The provincial party convened Monday afternoon at the Bren Z. Guaio Convention Center in this city, with an estimated 5,000 political leaders and members from Pampanga’s 20 towns and two cities professing their loyalty and alliance to Kambilan, including the candidacy of Pineda who will run hand-in-hand with incumbent Governor Lilia Pineda who is reportedly unopposed in 2013.
“Delta,” according to Sun.Star Pampanga sources, will the best qualified to clash head on with Senator Lito Lapid’s son Maynard, who had earlier declared his intention to gun for the post.
“Delta na at wala ng iba pa. That is 100 percent approved,” said Kambilan stalwarts.
Gov. Pineda led the presentation of returning candidates and new political faces from the province’s 18 towns and two cities with the exemption of Angeles City which does not belong to the province’s political jurisdiction.
Guv: ‘You decide’
Speaking before members of the Kambilan, Governor Pineda — after presenting the qualifications of her son — told them that it was up to them to vote for Delta or choose among options.
“Pakisabi ku mu, kauli yu bale, ika yu na at deng kayabe yu bale at king komunidad ing magdesisyun,” she said in her simple request.
For Vice Governor and first district congressman wannabe Joseller “Yeng” Guiao, however, the opportunity of having Delta at the legislative branch of Capitol is another sign of unity that will propel Pampanga further.
“It could only happen here. This is a great opportunity for us to move ahead with the programs of the Capitol for our cabalens. This would allow for greater unity and harmonious relationship between the executive and legislative branches. Most importantly, it is the welfare of the Kapampangans that will be on top as we put continuity in our plans and programs for 2013 and ahead,” Guiao said.
Barangay leaders interviewed by Sun.Star Pampanga are unanimous in saying that the tandem would prove beneficial to the development of Pampanga and the continuation of the programs started by Gov. Pineda.
Meanwhile, party spokesperson Rosve Henson said that “final line-up of the party, he said, will be made after the filing of certificates of candidacy from October 1-5, 2012.”
Coinciding with the launching of Kambilan, former Bacolor Mayor Romeo “Buddy” Dungca, Kambilan secretary-general led the mass oath taking the newly recruited Kambilan members most of whom are incumbent mayors, vice mayors, councilors and provincial board members.
Also present during the occasion were local party supporters from the cities of Mabalacat and San Fernando headed by Mayor Marino Morales with his team and Vice Mayor Edwin Santiago and his party mates respectively.
The governor also reminded the Kambilan members to avoid engaging into character assassination only to advance their political interest.
“Balu ku ating kayung katunggali, ali kayu pu mipanataki, mipanyira neng daratang a kampanya,” she told present Kambilan members.
