Macabebe women granted P850-T loans

MACABEBE, Pampanga–Governor Lilia Pineda led the distribution of loans to some 85 women of this town with a total amount of at least P850,000 as part of the Negosyo king Panyulung Program (NPP) of the provincial government.
Provincial Cooperative and Entrepreneurial Development Office (PCEDO) head Mamerto Gatus said NPP targets marginalized Kapampangans especially women who want to start a small business at home.
Gatus said that they received P10,000 each payable in six months without interest and no collateral needed.
“Most of the beneficiaries are women who have sari-sari store, stall in the market and those who sell foods,” Gatus added.
For Pineda, this livelihood program is also tantamount to women empowerment.
“Together with their husbands, they can help earning for their family,” Pineda said.
“Even at home, our kabalen could start a small business of their own. They can contribute to the meagre income of the family, send their children to school and pay for their health care expenses,” said Pineda.
All over Pampanga, the provincial government has 2,365 beneficiaries under this livelihood program wherein PCEDO has released at least P34 million and 98 percent or P29 million were already paid by the borrowers. ●Jenna Lumbang
