Pamintuan, Fil-Chinese group lead classrooms turn-over

ANGELES CITY- Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan led Tuesday’s signing of the Deed of Donation (DoD) of the seven newly-constructed classrooms at the Angeles City National High School (ACNHS) in barangay Pampang here.
Pamintuan was joined by officials of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industries Incorporated (FFCCCII) and the Angeles Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industries Incorporated (AFCCCII) who funded the construction of the said classrooms.
The mayor also donated P450,000 to complete the construction of the new classrooms.
During the turnover ceremony, Estrelita Lecaros, ACNHS principal, expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the fast construction of the fire-razed classrooms made possible through the efforts of Pamintuan.
“Mayor Pamintuan has always been supportive to the youth. We are overwhelmed by his immediate response to our dilemma, by way of calling and appealing to his Filipino-Chinese friends to help rebuild these classrooms,” Lecaros said
“He assured us that before the opening of classes in June last year, the rooms will be usable again and he did not fail us on that,” Lecaros revealed.
A total of seven classrooms situated on the two-storey facade building of the school were gutted by fire last February 2012.The Angeles City Bureau of Fire Protection reported that the fire was caused by faulty electrical wiring.
Since its full rehabilitation, the students resumed their classes with the regular schedules which were then held using make-shift tents.
“This turnover rite should have been held many months ago. Though the ceremony was behind schedule, this is our way of giving recognition to the people who helped us when our school is down,” Lecaros said.
“We are also extending our deepest thanks to the Filipino-Chinese Chamber groups for helping up cope this problem,” Lecaros added.
On the other hand, the FFCCCII serves the community through its year-round program “Operation Barrio Schools” which aims to build classrooms on public educational institutions through the donation of its members and benevolent organizations within the Filipino-Chinese community.
AFCCCII Chapter President Allan Christopher Uy said that Pamintuan’s request to reconstruct the school building was made possible due to their organization’s continuing advocacy.
“In the midst of the incident last year, Mayor Pamintuan called the members of the federation. Right then and there, our members pledged financial support and he was able to raise funds for the reconstruction of the classrooms,” Uy said.
Uy also said that their organization will continue supporting Pamintuan’s programs that will cater to the immediate needs of the Angelenos.
For his part, Pamintuan extended elation to the Filipino-Chinese community for continuously helping him in the delivery of services to his constituents.
“This is a clear manifestation that we really have a very active public-private partnership in Angeles City and that the business community fully supports my administration,” Pamintuan said.
