ANGELES CITY – A Korean student from the Angeles University Foundation (AUF) who took a midnight drive along Malabanias Road, Barangay Malabanias here was shot on his leg after which two men carted away his motorcycle, reports said.

FOUR people died while two others were wounded when grenade exploded Monday afternoon in a village in Lingig, Surigao del Sur, radio report said.
The fatalities were identified as Michael Ambus, 17; Joselito Nonong, 19; and Nelbert Banog, 15. Wounded in the incident were Camille Orillo, 11; and Jake Jay Orillo, 13.
The incident took place past 12 noon after the victims reportedly found the grenade and played with it, Bombo Radyo said.
Authorities believed the grenade was left in the area where the victims found it.
Investigation is ongoing.

CANDABA – A group of fishermen here disclosed that despite the reported water pollution at the Pampanga River, their catch had increased compared to the previous months.
Roderick Sablan, a fisherman from Barangay Bambang, was happy to note that the fish from the river appeared to be “undisturbed” despite the bulk of garbage.
“Marami ngayon ‘yung isdang tinatawag naming ‘silver’ at ‘common.’ Kaya tuwing umaga dumarami na ang mga mangingisdang gumagamit ng net at dito sa tapat ng dike pumupwesto,” Sablan said.
Aside from this, fishermen are also getting big-headed shrimp, locally known as “ulang Candaba,” from the river. This kind of shrimp is regarded by the people here as a blessing coming from the river.
“Wala naman naglalagay ng binhi nito sa ilog pero dumarami sila. Wala naman silang pinagkaiba sa karaniwang malalaking hipon na nahuhuli sa ibang lugar, ‘yun nga lang malalaki ang kanilang ulo,” another fisherman pointed out.
However, the fishermen are still urging local officials here to remain serious in their campaign against the continuous dumping of domestic garbage into the river.
Earlier, religious and other cause-oriented groups in the province conducted a simultaneous clean-up drive along the stretch of the Pampanga River in preparation to the grand Marian fluvial parade organized by leaders of the Catholic Church.
