MABALACAT — The town police scored anew in its campaign against illegal drugs with the arrest of a suspected pusher of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) on Tuesday.
The anti-illegal drug operation conducted by the local police in Barangay Poblacion here resulted to the arrest of Wilfredo “Loskie” Dela Cruz, 50, single, of Number 32 P. Burgos Street, Poblacion, this town.
Town police chief Rolly Mendoza said Dela Cruz was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by elements of the town’s police intelligence division led by Senior Police Officer 1 Dante Almario.
Mendoza said the suspect was caught while allegedly selling shabu to a police agent who pretended to be a user of illegal drugs.
Police seized from Dela Cruz a small sachet containing suspected shabu and the P500 marked money used in the operation.
The suspect, who is now detained at the Mabalacat police station, was charged with drug pushing before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor in the City of San Fernando.
Mayor Marino Morales has commended the town police for its continued campaign to rid the first-class town of prohibited drugs.
Morales said that drugs are a menace to society and destroys the youths.

ANGELES CITY, Philippines – A notorious criminal group was tagged as the suspect in the killing of a top councilor in Barangay Amsic here, police said yesterday.
Senior Supt. Rodolfo Recomono Jr., city police director, disclosed that a group engaged in robbery and gun-for-hire activities shot Kagawad Jovito Canda, while he was having a drinking spree with his friends at Purok 4 in Amsic village about 8:00 p.m. Saturday.
Recomono said Canda was responsible for the arrest of several suspects in Amsic involved in various crimes, including robbery and murder. He was instrumental in the solution of the murder of a Korean national in Mabalacat town.
Amsic Barangay Captain Gerard Costales said Canda “relentlessly” pursued criminals in their village here known as “lair of transients.”
He said the .9mm caliber pistol of Canda disappeared after he was killed.
Recomono said the two suspects armed with .45mm caliber pistols “were out to liquidate” Canda who suffered at least seven gunshot wounds, including two in the face. About nine bullet shells were found in the small alley where Canda was killed.
Recomono accompanied Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan in going to the wake of Canda at the victim’s residence in Purok 2, Amsic.
A vendor identified as Rene Gutierrez was also killed. He was drinking with Canda and a certain Rodrigo Cayanan when the two bonnet-wearing suspects shot them.
Cayanan suffered a gunshot wound at his stomach but now out of danger in an undisclosed hospital here.
Pamintuan said Canda was an “anti-crime crusader and a brave leader.”
He asked the police to “leave no stones unturned” in the solving the twin-murder.
Pamintuan also expressed his sympathy to Canda’s family, including Elizabeth, wife of the victim. He left seven children.
Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan in going to the wake of Canda at the victim’s residence in Purok 2, AmsicThe mayor asked Recomono to do a “no let-up” investigation of the case.

MABALACAT — The town police asked the public to relay any information related to the hit-and-run incident that killed a bar dancer Monday.
Margie Tugas Untalan, 20, single, a dancer at Club Asia, Fields Avenue, Balibago, Angeles City, was found dead along the MacArthur Highway in Barangay Dau (in front of Lashe Bar) around 5:15 a.m. Monday.
Untalan, a native of San Jose, Bani, Pangasinan, was a victim of hit-and-run, said Superintendent Rodney Raymond Louie Baloyo IV, town police chief.
Investigators still have no idea about the vehicle that hit Untalan.
The victim’s body was transferred to the Pangilinan Funeral Service.

MABALACAT — The town police recently apprehended a 28-year-old man tagged as one of the town’s most wanted person.
Alfie Tuazon Dizon, 28, a resident of 24th Street, Madapdap Resettlement Center, this town, was arrested at his residence by combined elements of the Pampanga Provincial Public Safety Management Company and the town police.
Superintendent Rolly Mendoza, town police chief, said a team of cops led by PO2 Gerome Canlas and Chief Inspector Edgardo Corral arrested Dizon by virtue of at least two arrest warrants issued by Judge Philbert Iturralde of the Regional Trial Court Branch 58.
Mendoza said the suspect was charged with 16 counts of qualified theft.
The court set a bail of P844,000 for Dizon’s temporary liberty, according to Mendoza.
In Angeles City, a suspected motorcycle thief was apprehended by elements of the city police recently.
The suspect identified as Ryan Julian, 28, of Purok 5, Claveria Street, Barangay Sant Trinidad, this town, was arrested while allegedly stealing a motorcycle at the parking lot of Nepo Mall.
Senior Superintendent Danilo Bautista, city police director, said the timely arrival of roving cops prevented the suspect from getting away with the bike.
Bautista said he has directed Police Station 1 commander Rico Cayabyab to file a case of theft against Julian.
Bautista commended the apprehending police officers led by Caybayab for the arrest of the suspect, who is now detained at the Police Station 2.
The police director said he has alerted police stations all over the city to intensify their respective crime-prevention program.
He reiterated police visibility and ordered all cops to conduct foot patrols to drive away criminal elements.

ANGELES CITY – Mayor Francis “Blueboy” Nepomuceno reconstitutes the city’s inter-agency committee by issuing Executive Order No. 3, Series of 2010 last February 16, 2010.
This is in its bid to further enhance its function and enforcing the Provisions of R.A. 9208 and R.A. 9262, otherwise known respectively Anti Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003 and Violence Against Woman and Children.
The committee is headed by Mayor Nepomuceno as Chairman and Lourdes Naguiat, city information officer/gender and development officer as co-chairperson.
The members are Councilor Rudy Simeon, Committee Chair on Labor; Robin Nepomuceno, President, Liga ng mga Barangay; Myrvi Apostol Fabia, DILG City Director; Juliet Bautista, City Civil Registrar; Adelina Deocales, Provincial Employment Service Office (Peso) Manager; Heidi Patio, City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO); Lawyer Oliver Garcia, City Prosecutor; Police Senior Superintendent Danilo A. Bautista, City Police Director; a representative from the Children and Woman’s Desk, Angeles City Police Office (Acpo); Carl John Miranda, SK Federation President Punong Barangay’s Rodelio Mamac, Edison Nacu and Gerom Costales; representatives from Women’s Education Development, Productivity & Research Organization (Wedpro) Inc., Nagkakaisang Kababaihan ng Angeles (Nagka) Inc., Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina (Kalipi) and Pag-Asa Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP).
The Committee’s duties and functions include coordinating programs and activities related to the campaign against human trafficking and violence against women and children; and proposing and recommending policies and regulations. They shall also monitor and review policies, programs, projects and activities.
The secretariat’s support shall be lodged with the CSWDO which shall be responsible for the documentation of proceedings of meetings and preparation of reports and other necessary documents as needed by the committee.
