CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga–Three persons, including a Korean national, are now languishing in jail after they were caught Tuesday by policemen in a drug-bust operation in Barangay Anunas, Angeles City.

Police claimed the children were “almost kidnapped” by unidentified persons on board a white van in Barangay Pescadores, Candaba.
Albayalde opted not to divulge the identity of the two minors for their safety.

He said the two children were on their way home to eat lunch when they were approached by the suspects and enticed to board the vehicle but they rejected the offer and ran away.

“They offered money and cellular phones to the children to convince them to ride with them,” Albayalde said.
He suspected that the unidentified men were probably members of a notorious syndicate responsible for the growing number of missing children in other places.

“I told the town police chiefs to coordinate as soon as possible with school officials to discuss the framework of the safe measures which will be adopted to avoid any similar incidents in the future,” Albayalde said.

Albayalde said the problem should be addressed immediately as these concern the safety of the schoolchildren.
He said he has already instructed all police station commanders in the province to implement foot and mobile patrols for police visibility in areas near school premises.

At my age, I was a big fan of the Finn Hudson and Rachel Berry love team. Just like my teenage daughter, I followed the Glee series with great enthusiasm and eyes glued on television. The reel romance that blossomed to real relationship.

Who would forget the famous quarterback with a golden voice? I wouldn’t, and neither would the nth million fans of Glee.
I could feel the pain Lea Michele went through upon learning the death of Cory. I felt her lost. I did not know that Cory was a victim of substance abuse at an early age. I was petrified when news of his addiction to illegal drugs started when he was 11 years old.

Rehabilitation did not do good to him since he could not refrain himself from using drugs. Such talent was wasted because of illegal drugs.
One question that keeps on bugging me is what’s with prohibited drugs that a lot of people are hooked when they started using it? Some attest that they experience sensation and pure ecstasy. A little bit of heaven followed by the tormenting hell is the most suitable description, maybe.

To get high or to taste heaven again, a person is tempted to use drugs over and over again until addiction steps in. Take for example, the late singer Amy Winehouse. She probably thought she was already in heaven and decided to stay there forever. Paramedics were late to wake her up in her dream.
Heath Ledger’s death was due to overdose of drugs and alcohol. He was thinking of joking around like his character in Batman. He portrayed the role of “The Joker” but failed to finish the movie because of his unexpected death.

The world was stunned to learn that even famous personalities were not immune to the evil of prohibited drugs. Fame and money were not enough to satisfy their curiosity. Angels with wings clipped by the lethal effects of drugs and alcohol desperately wanted to break free yet their wills were dominated by their own hallucinations. I just hope that their sad tales would serve a lesson for us.

Unfortunately, reports of drug related crimes remain the foremost problem in our society. Drugs could unleash the animal behavior of a person. The gruesome killings done by individuals under the influence of illegal drugs is beyond the imaginable. No one is spared when someone high on drugs decided to commit a crime.

Our authorities are helpless in penetrating the system. Their battle against drug lords seems futile since some sources say that these lords are protected by our very own government’s high ranking officials. I hope that this kind of scenario only happens in the movies, not in reality.

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO–The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) regional office has enjoined all local government units (LGUs) in Central Luzon to strictly observe and implement the provisions of the Kasambahay Law.

Glenn P. Cosio, local government operations officer IV, cited the important role of the LGUs, specifically the barangay chairmen who will take the lead in the conduct of the registration of the kasambahay in their respective jurisdiction.

Cosio said that barangay officials should require every employer to register domestic workers under his/her employment in kasambahay masterlist or the registry of domestic workers.

He said that the start-up registration of domestic workers in this city will be held on July 28, this year.
He also said that barangay officials will serve as witnesses between the household employer and the employee in the signing of the written employment contract which shall be executed before the commencement of the service.

He said the household employer shall have the obligation to furnish a copy of the employment contract to the kasambahay and a copy to the Office of the Punong Barangay in the barangay where the employer resides.

“We are encouraging everyone to support the Kasambahay Law. The domestic workers must be treated as a family member considering their services and concern accorded to every family they serve,” he said.

Under the Kasambahay Law, the domestic worker is entitled to a monthly minimum wage of at least P2,500 if they are employed in Metro Manila, P2,000 in other cities and first-class municipalities, and P1,500 elsewhere in the country.

Aside from the monthly minimum wage, the other mandatory benefits of the kasambahay under the new law include five days annual service incentive leave with pay, 13th month pay and daily rest period of eight hours.

After one month from employment, the Kasambahay shall be covered by the Social Security System (SSS), Employees Compensation Commission (ECC), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), and Pag-IBIG. ● (PNA)

ANGELES CITY — The Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO) won the Best in Situational Analysis award during a recently concluded regional competition.

ACDRRMO’s Emergency Response and Rescue Team won the award during the 10th Regional Rescue Olympics in San Jose Del Monte in Bulacan province.
The rescue olympics was organized by the Office of the Civil Defense in Central Luzon.

Aside from the Best in Situational Analysis Award, the city’s emergency response team was also awarded as the overall first runner-up winner for the City Olympics for First Aid and Basic Life Support-Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation category.

The city’s response team competed against the response teams of Olongapo City, Zambales; Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija; Malolos, San Jose Del Monte and Meycauyan, Bulacan; and Balanga, Bataan.

Cabanatuan City topped the situational analysis category in the city level.

Republic Act 9711, which created the FDA, allows the agency “to regulate health related devices defined as any device not used in health care but has been determined by the FDA to adversely affect the health of the people.”
