CITY OF SAN FERNANDO–Governor Lilia G. Pineda’s team of medical specialists welcomed Dr. Jason Aries Pagcu, neurosurgeon – a new addition in their ranks to further serve the indigent Kapampangans in need of various neurological surgeries and treatment.

Pagcu, a graduate of medicine specializing in neurosurgery from the University of Santo Tomas, has already handled nine successful major surgeries for indigent patients who asked the assistance of the provincial government.

Most of them are children with hydrocephalus while others are patients with tumors or persons involved in vehicular accidents. Four of these surgeries were performed at the Head Injury Unit of the Diosdado Macapagal Memorial Hospital.

Pagcu also plays a significant role in the screening of patients in need of diagnostic procedures like CT-scan – a commonly requested procedure by indigent patients seeking assistance from the provincial government.

According to the doctor, doing so will decrease the expenses incurred by the Capitol from diagnostic procedure fees paid in behalf of indigent patients.

“The presence of a specialist like Dr. Aries here at the Capitol is very significant. Now, indigent patients can directly raise their concerns to him and get immediate response, or treatment if needed. Also, he will be there to identify patients who really need to undergo CT-scan and other relevant diagnostic procedures,” Pineda explained.

The new member of the governor’s special medical team is available for consultations during Mondays from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at the Governor’s Office, giving priority to victims of traumatic injuries, stroke, brain hematoma, hydrocephalus, tumors, and other neurological ailments.

CLARK FREEPORT — Governor Lilia G. Pineda on Tuesday went beyond her political boundary to campaign for her bets for mayor of Angeles City and congressman of the province’s First District.

Pineda expressed confidence that there will be a “new Angeles City” if and when Team Agyu Tamu is chosen by the electorate.

“Kapag reng menyambut reng team areni asahan yu atin neng pamagbayu ing Angeles City (If this team wins, expect that there will be changes in Angeles City),” Pineda said, as she endorsed Team Agyu Tamu led by Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan.

Earlier, she urged some 1,000 Kambilan members of the city during a meeting with First District congressional bet Joseller “Yeng” Guiao held at the Oxford Hotel to choose “leaders who are dedicated public servants.”

Pineda said in choosing their leader, Angeleños should look for dedicated leaders who are focused on giving them quality services in education, health, livelihood, and infrastructure.

The governor furthered that a leader should also address the unemployment rate and the development of the area.

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — At least 47 of 80 Closed-Circuits Television (CCTV) camera units are now fully operational in key intersections and thoroughfares in the city.

This was announced by Mayor Oscar S. Rodriguez during the ceremonial switch-on of the command post of the CCTVs at the Heroes Hall yesterday.
In an interview, Rodriguez said the P10 million for the CCTV system was sourced from the funds of the local government unit, and that the necessary technology was meant to address concerns on security, safety, criminality and responses to disasters and calamities.

According to city administrator Fer Caylao the whole system is linked to the Bureau of Fire Protection, city police and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office or CDRRMO.

Caylao added that the Command Center will be manned by four watchmen-engineers and safety officers from the CDRRMO who will monitor what transpires in the city streets and vital installations 24 hours a day, and seven days a week.

“The recordings will be preserved until 30 days before they are archived. The CCTV system is our safety net in crime prevention and quick responses to any event that will require assistance from police, firemen and city emergency rescue teams,” Caylao added.

Earlier, officials of the Management Information and Information Technology Division (MITD) said CCTV cameras are now installed in electric posts along the Jose Abad Santos Avenue, Sindalan, and other major intersections in 12 barangays around the city.

“The idea of setting up cameras around the City would be a big help in identifying and investigating important incidents like road accidents and criminal acts,” Dexter Dancel, head of the MITD said.

“CCTV cameras can act as a very effective deterrent to thieves and burglars,” Dancel added.

Preliminary testing and observations reveal that the CCTV project is very promising. In fact, members of the CDRRMC were satisfied with the clear sample video clips captured by the newly-installed CCTV cameras presented during their last meeting.

The CCTV cameras are working fine during the night, but images are not as clear compared to daytime shots. On the other hand, the MITD assured that more cameras will be installed in other parts of the City in the next phase of the project.

ANGELES CITY–Team PNoy senatorial bet Loren Legarda plans to push for a program that will ensure one college graduate in every Filipino family.
Under her proposal “Pantawid Tuition” program, Legarda said she will ensure one college graduate in every poor family in the country.

“Bawat isa sa 3.8 million poorest families sa bansa ay magkakaroon na isa man lang na college scholar. Sa mga ayaw magkolehiyo dahil hindi nila hilig, TESDA (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority) course ang ating ibibigay na scholarship,” Legarda said during her visit here on Wednesday.

Legarda said she believes that education is the primary solution to poverty.

“I will see to it that this proposal will be a priority during the opening of the Senate after elections,” Legarda said.

Legarda clarified that her proposal is different from the purpose of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or 4Ps of the Aquino administration.
“In the 4Ps program, the government allocates about P1, 400 in every Filipino family so they can send their children to elementary and high school,” Legarda said.

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO–Gov. Lilia Pineda on Wednesday vowed to infuse an additional P100 million for the provincial government’s loan assistance livelihood program in a bid to provide more jobs in Pampanga.

Pineda made the announcement in her speech during the “Labor Day Job and Livelihood Fair” at the SM City Pampanga.

“The people of Pampanga should not lose hope. We and our private partners will find ways to help more people get jobs and livelihood opportunities,” said Pineda, who was accompanied by Board Member Monz Laus in the job fair opening.

Pineda and the provincial board headed by Vice Gov. Joseller Guiao released at least P42 million for the Negosyo king Panyulung Program (NPP). The program which started in 2010 benefited 5,300 people, 552 of whom are from this town.

“With fairs like this and a bigger NPP budget, we can certainly drastically cut unemployment in Pampanga,” said Pineda.

Pineda expressed gratitude to the SM officials led by Bien Mateo, SM Supermalls Vice President for Operations North Luzon 2, for the job fair that was started by the Sy-owned malls six years ago.

Mateo, who handles 11 SM malls, said they helped some 17,000 people get directly hired in 2012 job fair. He added that the job fair was simultaneously held in the 45 SM malls in the country.

“Our target is to surpass the number of our directly hired workers and the total number of people served for 2013,” said Mateo. He disclosed they had served more than 50,000 job seekers last year.

“Our commitment in helping the community is more effective when the leaders such as the Pampanga governor are cooperative,” he said.

On the same day, SM City Clark (SMCC) also held a one day job fair along with 50 companies offering jobs from local to overseas employment.
SMCC Assistant Mall Manager Mark Carlo Herrera led the ribbon cutting ceremonies during the job fair.

Herrera congratulated fresh graduates and expressed hopes that they find jobs that will suit their skills.
SMCC tenants and affiliates like The SM Store and SM Supermarket also offered job opportunities for applicants.
