Pampanga town to get P5M from Capitol

SAN LUIS — Governor Lilia Pineda told local officials here Monday that the Provincial Government is set to provide an additional P5 million for the town’s infrastructure and farm-to-market roads.
“Atin kayu pung pasibayung P5 million mula king Kapitolyo,” Pineda told local elected officials here during the flag-raising ceremony.
The Provincial Government earlier provided P8 million to the Municipal Government for the construction of various barangay roads that is believed to lead to the continuing development in the localities.
Pineda has assured the people of San Luis of a “just share” from the earnings of the Provincial Government.
“Kalupa yuku pu, kaluguran kerin ing San Luis,” she said.
The governor, meanwhile, reminded the people to remain vigilant this coming rainy season, as this town was one of the heavily affected in the 4th district during last year’s Typhoon Pedring.
“Ali kupu sasabyan na lumipat na kayong balen. Ing kaku mupu magkusa na kayong lumipat king ligtas a lugar kapag minapo ya pasibayu ing Pampanga River. Manalakad tamu pung evacuation center para atin kayung puntalan pag limbug pasibayu,” Pineda added.

Council commends cops for anti-crime drive

ANGELES CITY — The City Council here has commended the city police, particularly the Motorized Anti-Street Crime Operatives (Masco), for its anti-criminality campaign that led to the arrest of suspected riding-in-tandem robbers.
City Council Resolution 6385 Series of 2012, which was sponsored by Councilor Edu Pamintuan, cited Masco operatives including Superintendent Manuel Hidalgo, Chief Inspector Deonido Maniago Jr., Chief Inspector Luisito Tan, SPO1 Ervin Mendoza, PO2 Melvin Manalo, PO1 Delbert Tolentino, PO1 June Pilando Jr., PO1 Rodel Bolus, PO1 Mark Gutierrez and PO1 Jerry Tabek.
On March 20, the 10 police officers arrested two individuals identified as Jayren Buan David and Bryan Santiago Buerano, who were then riding a motorcycle without helmets and license plate.
The suspects were also carrying guns and live bullets when they were siezed by the policemen.
The City Government acquired additional patrol cars and other equipment to improve the operational capability of the city police.
Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan earlier assured Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Recomono Jr., city police director, that the City Government will continue supporting the anti-crime campaign of the local police.
Tan and the other awarded cops thanked the City Council for the commendation they received.

Police: Zero crime rate in San Luis

SAN LUIS — The chief of police here said Wednesday that the town has a zero crime rate for the past two years.
Police Chief Inspector David Arcega, town’s chief of police, said there is no carnapping, shooting, riding in tandem incidents and other street crimes recorded in the local police station.
He said this is the result of the continuous dialogues and coordination with barangay officials here who are in the frontline of any potential criminal activity.
“Maganda yung pakikipag-ugnayan natin sa mga leaders sa barangay kaya kung mayroon nangyayaring kakaiba sa kanilang lugar ay kaagad nila tayong inaabisuhan,” he added.
Arcega said barangay tanods (village watchmen) had been effective partners of local police in promoting peace and order in their respective localities.
“Sila yung nagsisilbing force multipliers na katuwang natin sa pagpapanatili ng ating katahimikan dito sa San Luis (They serve as force multipliers who help us maintain peace and order in San Luis),” he said.
With this, Pampanga Police Provincial Director Edgardo Tinio, during the turnover ceremony of tricycle patrols led by Governor Lilia Pineda Wednesday, lauded Arcega and his group for a job well done in their campaign against criminality in the area.
Tinio said with the additional tricycle patrols in all the 17 barangays here, the town’s peace and order situation is expected to remain in good shape.

The sweetness of the ingredients does not overpower one another but instead complements a distinct sweet taste that is not boring.
A serving of this famed halo-halo should be eaten with a plate of native palabok or puto and dinuguan. The price of the halo-halo is a little over P60 and could be eaten in a convenient ambiance. The Razon’s brand is one of the most accessible halo-halo brands of Kapampangan origin, as its branches are well established in key cities in Luzon. But if you are a sweet-tooth and have a penchant for sweeter ingredients, better troop to Arayat town for their famed Kabigting’s halo-halo. The halo-halo here boasts of finely shaved ice and the unique blend of ingredients and sugar syrup. Corporation to remit P300M in dividends to mother firm

CLARK FREEPORT — The Clark Development Corporation (CDC) is set to remit more than P300 million worth of dividends to its mother company, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), state-owned officials said.
CDC chair and officer-in-charge Eduardo Oban Jr. said the state-run corporation is now capable of paying its 2009 to 2011 remittances to the BCDA after the CDC management decided to forego construction work of the proposed CDC Corporate building, which aims to consolidate all CDC offices and Moral and Welfare Recreational (MWR) facilities.
“In fact, we have requested the BCDA to extend the deadline for our remittances since we are expecting more capital expenditures in the future. But since we will forego construction work of the proposed CDC corporate headquarters, we can now use the funds to pay our obligations to our mother company,” Oban said.
CDC Public Relations Department Manager Angelo C. Lopez Jr. said that in February 2012, the CDC has turned over dividends amounting to P100 million to the Bureau of Treasury (BTR) of the Department of Finance.
The remittance of dividends is in compliance with Republic Act 7656, which requires government-owned or controlled corporations to declare dividends under certain conditions to the National Government and for other purposes.
The law requires state-owned firms to declare and remit at least 50 percent of their annual net income to the national treasury. In January 27, 2012, the CDC Board approved the remittance of 50 percent of the expected P200-million profit made in 2011.
“One of the ways the CDC strives to help the administration of President Benigno Aquino III is by complying with its financial obligations to the government and by making substantial contributions to Philippine coffers,” Lopez said.
