CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga–The police chiefs of the cities of Angeles and Olongapo exchange seats Sunday in a reshuffle of key positions among police officers in Central Luzon before the elections in May.
Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Recomono, the city director of Angeles will be taking over as the Olongapo City police director from Senior Supt. Jose Hidalgo, who will, in return, take-over the Angeles City Police Office top post.

DINALUPIHAN, Bataan–A former mayoral bet of this town is now running as independent municipal councilor here.
Municipal councilor candidate Jules Moncupa, however, was adopted by the group of Dr. Rey Matawaran, who is running as vice mayor, to be included in their slate.
The group of Matawaran, running under Aksyon Demokratiko Party, has no mayoral candidate.
Moncupa was the bet of the Garcias in the 2010 elections against incumbent Mayor Joel Payumo.
Before running as mayor, he was two-time Dinalupihan municipal councilor.
In the more than two years hiatus from politics, Moncupa never lost contact to his leaders and supporters.
“Lagi naman nating nakakausap yung mga lider, supporters natin, nandito lang naman tayo sa Dinalupihan nagnenegosyo”, he said.
“Updated tayo sa mga nangyayari sa bayan, sa buong lalawigan ”, he also said.
“Hindi naman nawawala sa atin yung hangaring makapag-lingkod sa bayan”, he assured.
Moncupa was an outstanding municipal councilor of Dinalupihan and the province of Bataan.

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Some 7,561 unlicensed firearms in the province had been accounted for by the Regio-nal Special Operations Task group (RSOTG) of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Of this total number of accounted firearms with expired or revoked licenses, at least 89 are now in the custody of the Pampanga Provincial Police Office (PPO).
This was the result of the intensified Oplan Katok which was launched last December 2012, according to Pampanga provincial police director, Senior Superintendent R’win Pagkalinawan.
Paglinawan, together with the RSOTG commander and newly installed Deputy Regional Director for Operations, Senior Superintent Virgillo Lazo, said 89 firearms of different calibers were turned-over to the PNP for safekeeping.
Pagkalinawan said 16 of the 89 firearms were turned-over by gun holders who are no longer interested in renewing their licenses, while the rest will be kept pending the processing of the licenses.
The breakdown of the 7,561 firearms as of January 14 are as follows: 1,338 un-renewed licenses recorded but cannot be located; 1,249 cannot be located on the address being stated by the gun owners; 421 on-going renewal; 182 with updated licenses; 346 loose firearms; 245 sold with un-transferred ownership; 89 are in safekeeping; and, 2,557 notified.
The Oplan “Katok” is part of the Philippine National Police (PNP) strategy to ensure Safe and Fair Elections (SAFE) comes May this year.
All police personnel have been utilized to maximize the operations against unregistered firearm.
The police director said some of the gun owners failed to renew their firearm licenses due to financial constraint.
Pagkalinawan appealed to gun owners to surrender their guns to authorities for safekeeping while they do not have enough cash to pay for the license.
Pagkalinawan said after two years, authorities will file search warrant against firearm holders who failed to comply with the government requirements.
With this, Central Luzon police director Chief Superintendent Edgardo Ladao commended the Pampanga police and RSOTG on the result of their campaign against loose firearms. ●marna dagumboy-del rosario

MANILA, Philippines – Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) sees the launching of the dedicated bus service for Metro Manila passengers between Trinoma in Quezon City and the Clark International Airport boosting passenger traffic in the gateway in Pampanga.
CIAC president and chief executive officer Victor Jose Luciano said passenger traffic at the Clark International Airport is expected to further increase this year with the scheduled opening of the TriNoma-Clark Airport Lounge today.
Luciano said the dedicated bus service for Metro Manila passengers would improve connection between the Clark International Airport and Metro Manila as well as the rest of the South.
“Connectivity to Metro Manila will be much improved when a dedicated first class bus service will start plying their route via Trinoma-Clark-Trinoma with affordable fare of only P200,” he stressed.
Four bus firms including Philtranco, Genesis, Victory Liner, and Five Star would start plying the route to Clark airport in a bid to attract more Metro Manila and the Southern Tagalog residents to experience seamless travel via Clark.
He pointed out that CIAC and Trinoma would sign today a memorandum of agreement for the establishment of the Clark Airport Lounge.
He added that the government did not spend a single centavo in the Trinoma-Clark Airport Lounge that is equipped with comfortable waiting area, secured luggage counter, and real-time flight status updates.
“The Clark Airport Lounge is fully furnished located at the Trinoma Mall which is open 24/7 and passengers would have a taste of the first class amenities of the lounge,” Luciano added.
The Clark Airport is the fastest growing airport in the country posting a 71 percent growth in passenger volume last year. Clark posted a record 1.3 million passengers last year or 533,000 higher than the 767,000 passengers recorded in 2011.

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — More than 350 student-leaders from Don Bosco’s schools in Sta. Rosa, Canlubang, Mandaluyong, Makati, Tarlac and Pampanga lauded and thanked Laus Group of Companies (LGC) chairman and chief executive Levy P. Laus for his feat in establishing and building the conglomerate that has been serving the countryside.
The LGC and Laus were chosen by the Bosconian youth leaders as the first part of their study tour and Don Bosco Student Leaders Assembly themed “ProBusko: Propesyon Ko, Buhay Busko” where they were treated to how the automobile dealership came to being on Friday at the Carworld headquarters.
The tour took the young “Busko” to a glimpse of the operations of Mitsubishi Carworld, Corporate Guarantee and Insurance Company, DWRW 95.1 FM, CLTV 36 and Huper Optik among others.
Speaking in behalf of the group, Don Bosco Student Council head Mosche Lacson said they were awed and inspired by what their co-Bosconian has accomplished.
“He [Laus] is an epitome of a good leader from Don Bosco who translated his vision successfully into reality. We have heard and seen the fruits of his labor. He was just a simple Bosconian like us who had dreamed big for his future. We are indeed lucky to have his prestigious presence to show to us the fruits and the outcome of his profession. He truly inspired and touched the lives of present student leaders,” he said.
The aspiring “Busko” youth leader and his colleagues also thanked Laus for “his unselfishness and welcoming them warmly” at Laus Group.
“We thank you for accepting our invitation and for unselfishly sharing and letting us experience your accomplishments. We are so inspired,” Lacson told Laus, who spoke about his favorite guides embodied in the book “Into the Millionaire’s Mind.”
Salesian priest Rector Fr. Ditto Gueco agreed with Lacson and the student leaders as he told Sun.Star Pampanga that Laus ever since lived the life and ways of a true Bosconian.
“He is the best example of a good Bosconian who lived the life and preserved the values, integrity and discipline advocated by St. John Bosco, as he persevered to dream big and pushed for developments in the countryside. His story is indeed very inspiring as we learn, lead and live,” said Gueco.
