Bataan Freeport gets exposure at festival in Tennessee, USA

MARIVELES, Bataan – Officials of the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) announced that they had a recent exposure in Tennessee, USA allowing them to highlight the advantages of investing at the FAB here.

Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) Chairman and Administrator Deogracias G.P. Custodio disclosed that FAB had been recently featured at the Memphis in May International Festival.

Custodio described the 1,742-hectare FAB as the “emerging Freeport of choice in Asia.”

“I am thankful to the Memphis in May organizers and the Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce for inviting me to present the FAB during the Festival, “We are glad that the FAB is given the opportunity to further establish its international presence” Custodio said.

He said he had presented the FAB to an audience composed of Chamber members and import-export professionals from across the US. He highlighted the FAB’s five superior advantages:

(1) Superior Location; (2) Superior Incentives; (3) Superior Facilities; (4) Superior Natural Endowments; and (5) Superior Business Facilitation Support System. He also discussed the infrastructure developments in the FAB; and the growing number of new business enterprises that have made the FAB their base of production in Southeast Asia.

Together with Chairman Custodio during the presentation held at the Memphis Cook Convention Center were James L. Holt, president and CEO of the Memphis in May International Festival, Inc.; Ernest Strickland, director of Economic Development of the Greater Memphis Chamber and other ranking officials of the Greater Memphis Chamber.

The Memphis in May International Festival, the official festival of Memphis, Tennessee, is held annually to “promote and celebrate Memphis culture, foster economic growth, and enhance international understanding through education.”

On its 33rd year, this nonprofit organization chose the Philippines as its honored country for 2012.

Bataan 2nd District Rep. Albert Garcia authored House Bill 5344 that became Republic Act 9728, the law converting the former Bataan Economic Zone into a Freeport. It was signed into law in 2010.
